Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE]
ZGEN is the shared alumni network of the Zell programmes at the University of Michigan, Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and Reichman University. This site is run by the programmes together.
This policy explains what we hold about you, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. Write to info@zgenevents.com with any question.
What we hold, and why
Your programme shares your details with the network so we can include you: your name, email address, the programme and year you attended, and often your employer, job title, phone number and LinkedIn profile. We use this to let you sign in, invite you to events, help members connect, and keep in touch.
When you use a form on this site, we receive what you put in it.
We do not use passwords. Signing in sends a one-time code to your email, and your browser remembers you afterwards. We use no tracking or advertising cookies, we do not follow you across other websites, and we do not sell your information.
Connections through Zellda
Zellda is our community assistant. When a member asks it to find someone with particular experience, it may suggest your name and what you do, so the two of you can be introduced. Tell us if you would rather not be suggested.
Our legal grounds
We rely on our legitimate interest in running an alumni network its members want to be part of; on your consent where you have asked us to do something specific, such as registering for an event; and on legal obligations where they apply.
Who else sees it
A small number of service providers host the site, manage sign-in, hold the alumni records and send our email. They act only on our instructions, and we can name them on request. Some are based in the United States, so where information leaves the EEA or the UK we rely on the safeguards in their contracts, including the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Partner benefits are provided by independent companies. If you claim one, you deal with that company directly — we do not pass them your details.
We will disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
How long we keep it
For as long as you are part of the network. Ask us to remove you and we will, keeping only what we must for legal reasons.
Your rights
You may ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, send it to another organisation, or stop a use based on our legitimate interests. Write to info@zgenevents.com and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority — in Israel, the Privacy Protection Authority; in the EU or UK, your national regulator.
Security
We limit who can see the alumni records, use providers who encrypt information in transit and at rest, and avoid passwords in favour of one-time codes.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell members directly if the change is significant.
